In craps, players wager money against the casino on the outcome of one roll, or a series of rolls of two dice. Bets are placed on the table and each has its own payout. The table can be daunting for first time players with its vast array of bets and terminology. However, there is one fundamental bet that most players will make and you can get by just knowing this single bet. This bet is the 'Pass Line' bet.

A game starts by each player placing their chips on the table in a specific area. To place a 'Pass Line' bet you will need to place it in the large area around the edge of the table labeled, unsurprisingly, 'Pass Line'.

Once the bets have been placed the player, or 'shooter', rolls the two dice. This first roll of the dice is called the 'Come Out' roll and sometimes the outcome of the round can be determined on this first roll. If the total of the two dice is 2, 3 or 12 your pass line bet will lose, these numbers are 'Craps'. If the total is 7 or 11 then your bet will win even money (i.e. You will double your money). If any other total is rolled then this total becomes the 'point' for the next round. A white puck labeled 'On' will be placed above the point so you don't forget.

If a 'point' is established the shooter will roll the dice continuously until the dice total the point number or 7. For your pass line bet, if the point is roll you will win even money, or if a seven is rolled you will lose. Once the point or 7 is rolled the point is cleared and next come out roll is started.

As you get more experienced you can experiment with other bets. See the Basic Bets and Advanced Bets sections for more information.
